Amazing fresh tasty lunch. I live in the Midwest now but I have traveled to many Islands and love flavorful foods. I read the reviews so I tried the lunch special beef and yellow rice. Plantains and a beef empanada. My son had the chicken white rice and beans. Everything was so delicious. The owner was so nice and friendly. I'm definitely going back tomorrow!!

They have lunch specials in the afternoon that are great. Usually sold out by 4. I had the beef stew and it was awesome. Service is a fast and friendly and they make good recommendations. Not a sit down place. You'll want to take it to go.

had Lyla cater a birthday anniversary dinner on Friday,. I ordered Baked Chicken, Moro, Maduros and Empanadas for 25 people to be picked up at 5:00pm. At 5:00pm everything was ready for pick up. The food was delicious as always, my guests ate to their hearts content and I had enough to feed another group at the church on Saturday. Thank you for the food, for the prompt customer service and always with a smile. So grateful to you. Recommended dishes Empanadas, Fried Plantains Tostones, Sweet Plantains, Baked Chicken, Fried Pork Chops

Food tastey, good prices. Not a place where you sit and eat but if you are up for some authentic Puerto Rican food, this is the place. You can't beat the prices too!

What a great addition to the neighborhood! Lyla's Bodega is not a traditional bodega (there's no bodega cat), but it serves snacks and amazing Spanish food. They have white/yellow rice, black/dark beans, beef stew, chicken stew, steak and onions, empanadas, etc. I ordered the yellow rice, black beans, and beef stew. It came with a small side salad, a few mini pieces of caramelized maduros, and a canned drink which came out to ($11 + credit card fee)! I wanted to also get an empanada, but I saw how big the portions were and decided to get it the next time. Oh yes, there will be a next time. I workout at Crunch (across the street) and this will probably become my go-to place whenever I'm in the neighborhood. My only qualm is that I wish there were more seats (there are only 2 stools at the front). Credit card is accepted (for a small added fee).

Holy mother. Whoever Lyla is, if she's the brains and brawn behind this amazing l'il nook -- she is an amazing chef and deserves some serious recognition! Her chuletas are quite possibly the best I've ever had, moist, juicy, tender and flavorful, not dry and hard as many chuletas I've encountered are. The beef stew is meltingly tender with a perfect balance of potatoes and carrots. Empanadas are beautifully fried and blotted with moist, perfectly seasoned innards. Even the tostones are exceptional: freshly fried, a perfect combination of tender and crisp. Meals come with a bit of salad dressed with vinaigrette for balance. Lyla's is open for lunch only, I believe, and is geared for takeout or delivery. (I don't remember seeing a place to sit down.) We have it delivered when we work from home -- and the only downside is that they use styrofoam containers, which are not recyclable in NYC and leak. Unlike many other places, if they are out of an item, they call and ask if you'd like a substitution instead of subbing something in without your consent. The food is just amazing, made with care, comforting to the core. I wonder if they'd let me bring my own containers...

Muy bien! This is a nice neighborhood local hole-in-the-wall Spanish takeout eatery. They also sell candy and soda drinks. I had a good Spanish meal. Yellow rice and beef with a bit of salad and platanos. Support small business! Located across the street from Crunch Fitness, Redeemer Church and next to Hertz car rentals.
